Essential Maintenance

Let's face it: we all want to feel and look our best and that is why we tint our lashes and  “de-fluff” our bits.  Tidy eye brows and smooth legs are the foundations of outer beauty for us girls and therefore Beauty at Heart offers a comprehensive list of Eye Enhancement and Hair Removal services.

Waxing techniques have been practiced and perfected to bring us the superior treatment and professional advice we have available today.

Defining the different bikini waxes

At Beauty at Heart, we set out to make your hair removal experience carefree and with peace of mind.  Your beauty therapist will discuss any pre- and post wax concerns that you might have.

Basic Bikini wax - removal of the hair from the outside of your underwear to the leg crease.

Extended Bikini wax - removal of the hair from the outside of your underwear including any hair down the leg and slightly narrowing the triangle of hair above the top of the pubic area.

Brazilian wax - removing all the hair from the front of the pubic area and can also include the back area.  Some clients prefer leaving a little strip down the middle and your therapist will discuss this with you prior to your treatment. This is also sometimes called the 'Hollywood Wax'.

We like to treat our ladies respectfully and with dignity. You will be offered a little disposable G-string should you prefer one, but you will at all times have a towel covering you during your treatment.

After care instructions
  • It is advised to gently exfoliate and moisturise the area with gentle, fragrance - and colour- free moisturiser.

  • Refrain from swimming in chlorine-based pools for 24 hours post-wax.

  • Avoid hot baths or sauna sessions as well as strenuous exercise 24 hours post wax.

This helps the skin to recover from the micro trauma to the skin, minimising post-wax bacterial infections of the pores and formation of ingrown hairs.

  • Small and large areas of hair can be removed with either hot wax or strip wax.

  • Waxing will remove any shade and consistency of hair from all types of skin. Waxing works equally well on the finer hair typically found on the upper lip and on the coarser hair typically found on the bikini line.

  • The hair takes considerably longer to grow back. The rate of re-growth can vary from person to person, and subsequent treatments are booked between 3 - 6 weeks.

  • If the hair is waxed often enough it can weaken the follicle and in some cases cause reduced hair growth.

  • The wax does not just remove the hair at the root but it also exfoliates the skin, providing for ultra smooth and silky finish.

  • Potential side effects are relatively minimal with wax.

  • Waxing can be performed on practically all areas of the body.

Please be aware
  • There is a certain “ouch-factor” that is part of waxing. Likened to the'snap' of an elastic band on your wrist, it's quick and over with as soon as the wax patch is removed and pressure applied to soothe the nerve endings.

  • Waxing can cause redness of the skin that usually disappears within an hour.

  • For optimum results, the hair should be at least 5mm to 1cm in length. Any shorter and you may have an uneven result and any longer may contribute to the “ouch factor”.

  • Whilst the potential side effects are relatively minimal with waxing, one possible hazard is ingrown hairs.
